What's it like?...
If you want to quaff in a quality venue , and also require an old-school (yet not stuffed shirt) ambience, look no further than Vats. Half-way down Lambs Conduit Street, this friendly spot has been created with wine-lovers in mind. From comfortable seating areas spread throughout the premises, to a library of wine books for perusal, and a cosy fire in winter months, this is as close as you are likely to get to enjoying wine at home during a weekday.
The wine list concentrates on France, with representatives of all major regions featuring. There is also a reasonable choice of bottles from other countries, although, for a venue so in love with wine, no German wines were apparent when we visited.
This is a popular choice for local workers, attracting many from the legal sector in the nearby Inns of Court, and its not far from the British Museum either. The welcome is as warm for newcomers as it is for familiar faces. If you are in the area, Vats is the perfect place for a quick quaff or several. |
