What's it like?...
This is the first bar à vins that the Nicolas wine merchant chain has opened in the UK. There are 25 similar bars in France and we hope that there will be many more opening soon in the UK.
This is a bar attached to the wine shop. Customers may select a glass of wine from the menu, or if they prefer to open a bottle, they just find what they are after in the shop. Bottles are charged at the normal retail price with no corkage charge added. The menu changes every three weeks (along with the wine selection) and all of the food is offered at very reasonable prices and each dish is accompanied by a wine recommendation. The wines we tasted were all superb and as they are served in tasting glasses, the prices are very very reasonable.
If you happen to be in Canary Wharf, particularly if you work there, you must visit this fantastic bar. It's a real treat for wine lovers and very cosy.
