Made from one of Alsace's noble grapes, this Riesling is delicate and refined. In the glass it is pale lemon and star bright. As one might expect from a well made wine such as this, the initial aroma is subtle but distinctive. It is clean and fresh with an abundance of citrus fruit and the classic kerosene and oiliness of the Riesling grape.
Hugel's wine is dry and has plenty of zingy acidity to give it structure . It is medium-bodied with the same citrus notes as on the nose. The taste is understated and refreshing but the length of finish is disappointingly short. This is a pleasant quaff that could be enjoyed as an aperitif or drunk with some simple seafood. Delicious. |
