Gradually built up from a meagre 5 hectares in 1968, Domaine Vacheron now comprises 34 hectares of some of the best sites in the central vineyards of the Loire Valley.
The appellation of Sancerre is situated on limestone and flint soil which together impart the minerally austerity associated with the best whites from here. This wine is no exception. It has an intensely aromatic smell of 'green' fruit and freshly cut grass, and concentrated flavours of gooseberries hit the tongue on first taste, together with a certain smokiness.
Crisp and dry with a good length of finish, this is a fine example of Sancerre. |
