Crozes Hermitage is one of the 8 AC Crus in the northern Rhône. This particular wine, made by Paul Jaboulet Ainé, is considered to be the finest example from the region. Jaboulet is the most successful and go-ahead négociant in the Rhône Valley and owns 47 hectares in Crozes Hermitage and a further 28 hectares in neigbouring Hermitage. Each year the company produces and sells 2 million bottles.
This wine, made from 100% Syrah, contains all the hallmarks of a textbook northern Rhône Syrah. It is full of ripe blackcurrants, plums, mulberries, and raspberries and has definite threads of black pepper and licorice to give it complexity. Firm and ripe with a strong backbone and great finish, this is a fabulous wine. |
