Originating from the most prestigious region in Germany for Riesling, this wine exhibits all the characteristics of a top quality example.
In the glass this wine is pale gold and glossy with an attractive ripe nose of citrus fruit, freesias and honey. It is medium to medium sweet (as one would expect from a spätlese) but with rasping acidity. It has a very light body (just 7.5% alcohol) but is packed with a concentration of grapefruit, lemons and honeyed fruit and has heaps of residual sugar. Its finish is strong and of good length.
This is an extremely well made youngish Riesling that shows evidence of some bottle age but will keep and improve for another five years or more. Absolutely delicious. |
